Companies are using AI to automate administrative work, analyse data, improve customer service, create marketing content and support employees with routine tasks. The change is no longer limited to technology startups or multinational corporations. Small businesses, professional firms, retailers and service providers are also beginning to experiment with AI.
London is particularly exposed to this transformation because its economy contains a high concentration of finance, technology, professional services, media and other knowledge-intensive industries. The UK Business Data Survey 2026 found that 60% of London businesses handling digitised data reported using AI, compared with 41% across the UK overall.
